Take that, Monday blues!

I went to bed feeling a bit achy, so I thought I just needed rest. But the worst feeling in the world to me is waking up with a headache. Ick! So I figured I couldn’t do much in the gym or a workout at home, but took a walk with my husband and this really lifted my spirits! I came home and started the crockpot, made a delicious healthy reliv smoothie, coffee, and I’m watching a bit of LIVE with Kelly (the post oscars), after sending my husband off with a healthy lunch. I get so giddy when I realize I can do this! Phil.4:13- with His help, I can! Last week was rough (I cried going out the door or going to bed), & I thought, “is this depression sinking in?”
Am I forgetting the glory of the gospel?
The joy and love displayed on the horrific cross?
I was! I was acting like an orphan, like a slave still in bondage, wanting to go back to my Egypt.
I have noticed, in this budgeting class we are in, we will be eating less, eating healthier, so we MIT lose weight!:) I’m only one pound away from my goal, so maybe ill push it 5lbs more, or maybe ill be happier with just maintaining and staying where I am.:-)
Our church has been studying Galatians and this is chock full of spiritual vitamins- reminders of our adoption as sons & daughters into the loving family of God! I can’t let a headache get me down.
Good morning! Go out and keep the good fight of faith!

A productive & fun Saturday!

Last night I stayed up late reading blogs. This am I woke excited to read some more! I emailed my sister and had my kashi protein cereal and reliv and left for Burbank 24’s Body Combat. I still was cautious on my ankle(didn’t go all out), but had fun and sweated a little. That teacher Kyla is so funny and energetic. She is one of those L.A. Beautiful people too.
Then I came home and had a light snack. My husband had just come from his Griffith ride and we saw the neighbors and chatted about gardening. Her Guatemalan grandkids are so so cute!
After our showers and coffee, we ran an errand at On Guard in Pasadena. We wanted to get car insurance quotes if we join with the same company, and discuss it with Chris, my favorite agent over there. We visited Trader Joes and made a healthy lunch which we got to eat outside!:) We worked on our finances and looked at our budget for a big portion of the afternoon, and I had tea, girlscout cookie cupcakes (!!!!!!!!!so good!!!!!!!) while I talked to my mom. I had to clean my floors, & look over the Sunday School lesson and am now about to cook shrimp:) Tonight we are going to hear my friend’s band lookinfortrouble.com at T Boyles in Pas. Whew!

One of the reasons I started this blog is because I have trouble getting ready in the morning.  AND I WAKE UP IN PLENTY OF TIME, mind you.  For all the time I spend getting to work, it should show (I should look more put together;-) HAHAHA!) I tried googling and researching some other women’s blogs with this idea, so I need your help!  If it’s not too personal, and you don’t mind commenting, what are some of your healthy & quick breakfast ideas?  What do you lay out the night before (full complete outfit with all the accessories? Gym workout garb? Hair stuff?) What do you travel with (in your purse/gym bag/work bag?) How do you get it all in there & keep it organized?  I have arrived at the gym and had a great workout, jumped in the shower and realized: “I have no clean _ (insert lingerie item)!” And I panic. I’ve had to go buy extras or tried to keep things in the trunk of my car (I don’t want to keep a messy car) all for the prepared girl scout “Just In Case”!  It’s comical, really. I have forgotten necessary things that I left out somewhere, but left it and didn’t add it to the bag or get it in the car.  I have to check things off my reminder list, tried to remember to check my iphone lists, prayed and journaled about this problem. 🙂 I do not want to walk into work with my hair all wet (SHOWERHEAD!) and disheveled, or no makeup, or forgetting an important accessory like a belt.

So far this is what a normal-but-crazy morning for me would look like:

7am read Bible/pray/journal (with the Youversion Holy Bible app, it has great reading plans and notifies you).

7:30 hopefully am up getting my gym bag together (if I didn’t pack it the night before) and taking Reliv (my powder supplement) and have weighed myself.  I am making my coffee and getting my lunch bag packed, grabbing a water bottle and making a smoothie (Elite Cuisine is like a competitor to Magic Bullet/Nutribullet = personal size version of Vitamix or other big blender).

8:10 am usually out the door for an 8:30 gym class (24hour fitness) or for the Friday class I teach.  If it’s Tuesday, I wake up 6:30 and try to get a bike early for 8a spin.

This means I have to do quickie eye makeup in the car, try to blow dry my hair before I leave for work (I don’t have to be there til 10:30!  You’d think I should be able to do it!), and be fully showered/dressed (with moisturizer :)) by 10/10:30 (depending on drive time or wherever I’m coming from).

Here’s some reminder tags I’ve tried to put up (all over the house;-) no, just kidding!):

cleanse, tone, moisturize

accessories (lingerie, socks, shoes, belt, hair stuff, scarf)

The next blog post will be about BED TIME ROUTINES! 🙂 hahahahahahaha

THNX LADIES (I’m lumping you all together, but if any men want to help that’d be fine too!  My husband always smells nice, has perfect oral hygiene, helps me with dishes, and gets his coffee free at work!:) But us women have more things to take care of I suppose…?)

Just Breathe.

My dad always said I was making things harder on myself.  Carrying 6 bags of groceries in (so I don’t have to go back outside!) or trying to juggle water, coffee & smoothie, gym bag, purse, classroom bag (on Fridays I teach a one hour Intro to Drama & Fine arts class to a great little group of kids!) !  My husband always helps with the door or when we’re out together he carries heavy things or luggage for me.  But today it hit me: this little convo that I have with myself every so often:

BUT I CAN’T!! I got to be there in 20 minutes!!

Finally got in the car, stopped feeling so frustrated, listening to my Shane & Shane…Whistling…singing…harmonizing…
BAM!  TRAFFIC JAM on the 134 (going the opposite way of normal Friday LA traffic!) ! The other side was normal people whizzing by! I was dumbfounded.  Where did this come from?  All I saw was a measly little tow truck and one tiny white car (no glass or smashing or major parts busted that I could see) and I finally was clear of it! Ridiculous.  But I was still late to my class (um, pretty much besides my job and seeing my husband, favorite part of my day/week!) but we just got to work. The kids were pretty wild (in good SPIRITS!) so we made a fun morning of it, and I even got to leave on time (sometimes I’m rushing to the next errand or rushing to get ready for work) – which meant I went ahead to splurge for a Vanilla Spice Latte & a yogurt at Starbucks.  I know, I know, I’m trying to save money!  But I even made it in & out of Super King with all my produce for the week, in 20minutes, spending under $25! How do ya like that?~! (Bragging rights tyvm!)

Jesus said His burden is light.  I’m so glad I can run to Him any time I need, and just breathe.

After all, I haven’t spilled my coffee in two days!  That’s progress:)
